Who is this announcement relevant for?
This announcement is relevant to SDK customers integrating Futurae Android SDK v2.x.x or lower into their apps and want to maintain support for devices running Android 6 through Android 7.1.1.
Description of the update:
As published earlier in our announcement Announcing: Let's Encrypt Certificate Changes Affecting Android 6 and 7 Devices, Let's Encrypt will discontinue cross-signed certificates, affecting Android 6 and 7 devices. This change will take effect starting September.
What is the impact?
If your application is used on Android 6 or 7 devices, it is crucial to update to Futurae Android SDK v2.5.9 or higher. Not doing so, will result in service disruptions for users with these Android versions, including the inability to authenticate.
Advised Actions:
For SDK Apps Integrating Futurae SDK v2.x.x or Lower:
To maintain support for devices running Android 6 through Android 7.1.1, clients integrating the Futurae Android SDK should update to Futurae Android SDK v2.5.9 or higher by August 31, 2024 which seamlessly imports and trusts Let's Encrypt's ISRG Root X1 SSL certificate.
For more details, please refer to the official Let's Encrypt Announcement.
If you do not need to maintain support for devices running Android 6 through Android 7.1.1, or pretend to discontinue support for these Android versions as of the beginning of September 2024, no changes are required.
For SDK Apps Integrating Futurae SDK v2.5.9 or Higher:
No action is required as your app already supports the necessary certificate authority changes.
