What this is about?
The European Accessibility Act (EEA) establishes accessibility requirements for specific products and consumer services across the European Union.
Starting 28 June 2025, these requirements apply to digital and mobile services such as consumer banking applications, ensuring they are perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for all users, including those with disabilities.
Futurae is fully committed to accessibility and ensures that its Access Apps for iOS and Android meet the requirements defined in the EAA.
Accessibility improvements implemented in Futurae Access Apps
To align with the EEA requirements, Futurae has implemented a comprehensive accessibility update in its Access Apps:
Enhanced Keyboard Navigation and Focus Order
Keyboard navigation has been refined to ensure a clear, logical, and intuitive focus order across all components. This creates a more intuitive experience for users who rely on keyboard-only interactions
Improved Contrast and Resizable Text Support
Visual clarity has been enhanced through improved color contrast, and users now have full control over text resizing to support individual visual needs better.
Enhanced TalkBack & Voice Over Support and Updated Labels
Support for screen readers has been significantly strengthened. All component labels have been updated to provide clearer and more accurate verbal cues for users relying on TalkBack or VoiceOver.
Improved Language Support
The apps now offer improved language support, making them more accessible to a wider audience.
These enhancements significantly improve the experience for users who rely on assistive technologies and help ensure alignment with the functional accessibility requirements of the EAA
Standards and Technical Compliance
The Futurae Access Apps are fully compliant with the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1) Level AA, which correspond to the requirements defined under the European Accessibility Act.
