What is changing?
As part of our ongoing effort to leverage the latest security enhancements and performance improvements from Apple and Android, Futurae is raising the minimum supported OS versions of our apps.
Starting March 1, 2026, all new releases of the Access apps and the Futurae app will require Android 9 and iOS 15 as the minimum supported versions.
Security and Platform Alignment
Android:
- All Android versions 8.1 and below stopped receiving security updates as of October 2021, as highlighted in Google's Security Bulletin.
- Android 9 introduced critical privacy and security enhancements that are not available on earlier versions. These include:
- Standardized Biometric Prompt
- Encrypted Backups
- Private DNS (DNS over TLS)
- Stricter Foreground Service Restrictions
iOS:
- The last security update for iOS 14 was iOS 14.8.1, which was released on October 26, 2021.
- Following Apple’s minimum requirements and supported SDKs for Xcode 16, supporting devices on iOS 15 and later.
By requiring modern OS versions, we ensure that apps run on platforms with active security support, minimizing risks for all users.
